New Friends!

Last night we met up with another group of teens who are traveling with GVI from Dubai. We spent a few hours eating together, talking, laughing, and competing in several friendly-but-exciting rounds of our own “Minute to Win It!” Many preconceived ideas about Dubai were dispelled, and many were disappointed to see the night end.

Today we had breakfast of banana porridge, hard-boiled eggs, and croissants. Afterwards, one of our leaders, Bianca, led us through a discussion focused on self-care and we set some personal goals for our trek.

From there we walked down to a set of fields on the lakefront to play soccer, frisbee, or practice juggling. We shared the field with several water buffalo and a dog we named Rosco.

After lunch, our trek leader, Ishwar, came and walked us through preparations for our 4-day trek. We spent some time shopping and getting packed up to leave for trekking.

Finally, the kids were quite surprised to find that their new friends from Dubai were eating dinner at the same restaurant and at the very same time as them tonight. What a crazy coincidence! (Wink, wink). More fun was had, including finally learning how to play Goats & Tigers a strategic Nepali game that has similarities to Chinese checkers and chess.
